Thanksgiving came and went and it was wonderful. Grace fully enjoyed getting to eat lots of good food and she got her first tastes of sparkling cider, which she seemed to like the most. But I'm all done with that and on to Christmas...
We made our first ever call the poison control! The story goes like this... I love real trees so we have one, only it was a bit long on the top so we cut it down a smidgen. Well the top flew off, never to be found by grown ups again. Grace found it and munched on it a while, no biggy, but later was acting upset so we made the call... and did you know that no fir trees are poisonous to humans! They said she might have ingested some fir needles and they might be poking around upsetting her but it wasn't a concern, I'm pretty sure she had just been up too long and was over tired now that I look back.
Glad to have put up my tree though, which we had to buy a new baby gate to surround. You see we've actually surrounded it with a gate for a few years already because Blue (the dog) seems to enjoy herself a present or two if we don't. The gate we used to use, however, has been put to better use this year gating off the wood stove. I really only need it for the dog as my mom so lovingly bought us a bunch of shatter proof ornaments, but I can still but on the breakable ones this way too. It got me thinking about all the other baby proofing we've done...

doors to fish tank stand, lots of these around now |
The joys of parenting. I once thought I'd "teach" her the unsafe places and never have a problem, gave up on that quickly. I learned you can't do dishes, laundry, or any cleaning and watch a baby that's determined to get into the cupboard.
I can't wait for this Christmas, our first as a family!!!
